Personal loans for Guernsey residents.
A personal loan in Guernsey is unsecured borrowing you repay over a fixed term — no charge over your home, no asset put up against it. Lenders price it on your income, your outgoings and your credit history rather than on anything you own. Where Guernsey differs from the UK is the panel: high-street comparison sites will happily quote you rates from lenders who do not write business in the Bailiwick at all, and you find out only after the hard credit check has already landed on your file. We search lenders that genuinely lend here, including Guernsey-based firms, and the enquiry stage is a soft check that leaves no mark.
- Every lender we approach actually writes business in the Bailiwick of Guernsey — no wasted applications to UK-only lenders
- Soft credit check at enquiry stage, so comparing costs you nothing on your credit file
- Unsecured — your home is not used as security, whether it is Local Market or Open Market
- Fixed monthly repayment over a fixed term, so the budget does not move
- Guernsey-based lenders and brokers on the panel alongside the wider Channel Islands market
- Borrow for any legitimate purpose — a car, a wedding, school fees, a boat, consolidating other debts
- Applications considered from residents of Alderney, Sark and Herm, not just Guernsey itself

Borrowing in the Bailiwick
Tell us the amount and the purpose
A short form — how much, over how long, and what for. No credit check is run at this stage and there is nothing to pay.
We check who lends in Guernsey
We filter out the lenders who do not cover the Bailiwick before we compare anything, so you are only ever looking at real options.
We compare the rest of the market
Rate, term, arrangement fees, early settlement terms. We put the shortlist in front of you rather than pushing one lender.
You choose, then apply properly
Only once you have picked a lender does a full application and hard credit check happen. Most clients have a decision within 48 hours.

Guernsey borrowing questions
Often yes, though lenders will look at how long is left to run on the licence against the loan term. A five-year loan against a licence with one year remaining is a harder case than the same loan against a longer licence. Tell us the licence type at enquiry and we will approach the lenders most comfortable with it.
Some do, many do not, and the comparison sites rarely make the distinction clear. It is the single most common reason a Guernsey applicant gets declined after a hard search has already gone on their file. We check lender coverage before we compare anything.
Not at the enquiry stage. We use a soft credit check, which is visible to you but not to other lenders and does not affect your score. A hard search only happens once you have chosen a lender and decided to proceed with a full application.
Yes, though the panel is smaller. Lenders treat the smaller islands as a more specialist proposition, so there are fewer options and they can take a little longer to underwrite. It is worth enquiring rather than assuming the answer is no.
It depends on the amount and on what you own. Unsecured personal lending usually tops out well below what a secured loan or a remortgage would raise, but it does not put your property at risk and it completes far faster. For larger sums against a Guernsey property, look at a remortgage or equity release instead.
No. Best Loans is an introducer. We search the market and refer you to a regulated lender or broker who arranges the loan. We are not regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and we do not give financial advice — the firm we introduce you to does that.
Nothing. There is no fee to you for the search or the introduction.
